We are in solidarity with female heroes in India. 12 female artists in Rajasthan support hundreds of their community members at the grassroots level by teaching dance and leading educational and support programmes.

Meena Sapera lives in the outskirts of the city of Jaipur, in the “artist colony.” She lives in one of the houses of the highly dense neighbourhood. In this colony, most families are artists, performing live shows during the local tourist season. With the pandemic, these families have been struggling to work. With mostly the female dancers as income earners of their families, Meena has been putting in a lot of effort in emancipation of her community members. She spearheads multiple campaigns to improve hygiene and cleanness in the colony.
